About Kat

Kat has spent the last four years working for the children’s charity Action for Children (Children’s Fund Kirklees) as a Children’s Participation Officer successfully involving children in design, delivery and evaluation of services. Over this period, she has gained extensive experience of working with c/yp in an engagement and inclusion capacity by ensuring that their voices can influence decision making processes.

Over the course of this role, Kat has supported over 30 projects in participation techniques and evaluation, managing regular performance review meetings with them and has facilitated c/yp’s creative involvement in strategic meetings and recruitment of staff for example.

She has been responsible for planning and delivering workshop sessions within projects and services across all sectors and has worked in many schools, educational settings and multi agency project settings organising and facilitating creative workshops and using participative tools to involve c/yp.

Kat has taught drama to 5-13 year olds for Kirklees Council Culture and Leisure service, worked as a Performance Arts Coach in Massachussets, USA and has delivered workshops to primary school teachers on how to implement drama techniques within the classroom.

Performance experience within both theatre and television, she also works for the Puppet Broadcasting Company as a voice artist

Involvements

Kat is currently working with the PBC on planning and facilitating the development of materials for the new Get Your Head Round It -Key Stage 2 resource.
